Very quiet and easy to install drives.
I was pleasantly surprised by this enclosure! The enclosure didn’t require any tools to mount my 3.5 inch drives. After mounting the drives in the enclosure and powering it on, the noise level from the fan was very low. I could barely hear the fan. I didn’t try any of the raid features, I just needed an enclosure to hold my drives and access them as stand alone drives. The drives stay spun up all the time, there is not a sleep mode for drives that are not accessed for a certain amount of time. This was fine for my use, I needed the drives to be responsive immediately and not have to spin back up. If you need to use 2.5 inch drives, you will need to buy adapters in order to mount them into the 3.5 inch drive bays. I am very happy with this enclosure.

Functional drive enclosure
Use case: External drive caddy. I have 2 18TB NAS drives inside. I have the 2 bay version. This enclosure keeps the drives cool, around or under 40C in room temperature. The fan is not loud at all, I think the 40-50dBa reported seems quite off. I will say there is a bit of a rattle noise to the fan which I have noticed but I am sensitive to fan noise more than probably most. I took some pictures of the back of the PCB as I didn't see anyone else post that. The fan seems to be a 40mm but uses a two prong plug, I will look into changing it to a Noctua hopefully but I am big time nit picking on this thing. Have not had any issues with the drives. I am using Corbian Reflector as an automated backup weekly and have had no errors. I paid around $60 and it's hard to find any faults. Can't speak to the raid function as I am not using it.

Good product. So-so user guide.
This RAID enclosure is a great value for the price. I have 3 of them now and they were all very easy to set up and get running. The RAID mode is selected from DIP switches on the back, which is convenient, although you're not likely to change RAID modes once you set up drives. Unfortunately, like many inexpensive products from Asia, the users guide is replete with long descriptions in sometime garbled English, but the meaning is at least understandable. However, the photos in the PDF version of the user guide are very low-resolution thumbnails that are almost impossible to decipher when expanded. I boggles the mind why any vendor would create such terrible low-resolutions photos and then use them to illustrate their manual. Speaking of the manual, it's pretty thin on how to recover from drive failure (for instance in RAID1 mirror mode). But that seems to be on par for these budget electronic sellers.

Did not work for MacOS
I'm using this on my Mac Studio as my Time Machine. I spent 15 mins trying to figure out what was wrong with this enclosure. I resetted it multiple times and nothing worked. I can see that when resetting its doing something but was not popping up on the Mac.Thankfully I have a Windows machine and so I plugged it in and it started working. And the enclosure identified the mode that I chose correctly which was Raid 1. I was also able to format the drive. So I came to thinking and hoped theres a firmware update because the description does say MacOS is supported and wanted to use this as my Time Machine. So I went to the site and found the firmware. They had two different model types, I also dont really know the difference. They have 802TC and 802RU. I tried 802TC and it did not work and then tried 802RU it started to work. The instructions were subpar, it had screenshots and and written in chinese. However, the document had a translation section in english which was nice. That being said after updating the firmware, it started to work on the Mac. And right now its finally backing up. I'm most likely going to return it, i dont know how reliable this is given that it did not work out of the box. Funny thing is that the firmware that came with it is the same version as the one I used to flash the enclosure. 'Like why did it work after the flash and not out of the box given that its the same firmware version'One thing to Point out, I may have the wrong version. The picture on the description has a flat rubber feet whereas this one doesn't, if anything it looks like the old model.

Works exactly as needed
Working great with 2x 20TB Seagate drives.I run raid 1 for mine. Followed the instructions and then mounted it within a Debian 12 environment with no issues. As long as your OS has proper drives for your USB chipset, this thing should be fairly straightforward.I have the two-bay model.

So far so good. Using it on a linux home media server with 2x 20TB drives and RAID 1.
So far so good. Using it on a linux home media server with 2x 20TB drives and RAID 1. Linux detected it immediately and after i set to RAID 1 and held the reset button it popped up as a HW RAID and GParted worked perfectly, now working to transfer my 8TB of Data to it. Biggest complaint is that the plastic rails take some fussing with to get perfect, but otherwise work great.

Works with my Apple-formatted Software RAID 1 Array!
After using this RAID array in an OWC Elite Dual Drive enclosure for many years, it began unmounting unexpectedly. After swapping out cables and ports, I determined that the enclosure was failing. Seeking a more affordable option, I decided to give this one a try. Setting the DIP switches to "normal", the RAID array mounted right up, and has been rock-solid for 48 hours now. I would give five stars, but I'm unsure how this enclosure will hold up in the long run.
