Chef'sChoice Food Grinder Attachment, One Size, Cast Metal

I specifically searched for a stainless steel grinder that could be put through a dishwasher. This listing says this item is both DISHWASHER SAFE and STAINLESS STEEL. Neither is true. The only stainless parts are the feed bowl and the axle for the grinding shaft.The balance is cast aluminum and plastic.While the unit did mow right through 10 pounds of linguisa without any issue, cleanup without being able to run the equipment through any kind of sterilization cycle (without using bleach, which will stain the stainless), makes this a bad choice for sausage making where sterilization between batches is paramount.I'd return the unit for not being as described, but I find dealing with Amazon customer service to be a worse alternative.

This does not work what a waste of money. Over priced and it does not work. I really want to give it no stars.

I was quite disappointed to discover the unit is not, infact, stainless steel as advertised. It has stainless accessories...the screw, the dies and so on. But its is actually die cast out of mystery metal. If you are purchasing this with the idea that it is stainless steel, be aware of the deceptive description. It is not. I returned it immediately and cannot comment on its functionality. Cooking with only stainless appliances is important to me. I can't remember why though...;)

I love the meat grinder and sausage stuffer they work great. The thing I didn't like was the alignment of the grove for the attachment screw they didn't match and the meat grinder would tend to come out all the time, I had to tighten the screw over and over again as the grinder would tend to keep coming off. But as I was tightening over and over again I managed to create a second grove and at the end of my sausage making the grinder stayed putt. So at the end it all worked out, but I do wish that they do fix the alignment for future buyers so that they don't go through what I did.

A solid accessory to my KitchenAid mixer. The hopper does not leak as did the plastic KitchenAid unit. The cutting plates are solid, and the blade is very sharp. This unit ground its way through six pounds of pork in no time. This was my first use of it, and would highly recommend it.

The plunger was completely smashed upon arrival, which in turn revealed how brittle, fragile, and incredibly thin the plastic is. The 797 model is much more impressive. Interesting though what a dog's breakfast of mix 'n match parts the company uses. For instance, the 796 has SS sausage tubes, while the 797 uses plastic.

The ground meat produced is good, but it is difficult to feed the first grind through for a second grind. I believe this is due to the tapered shape of the feed hopper.Also, because it is not dishwasher safe, it must be hand cleaned which is laborious.
