Quality product, neat, easy to fit.
Very simple to switch on and off, so much better than the resistance from the electric motor. Now I can comfortably cruise at the normal speed of 18 - 22 mph as I would on a non-motorised model.

A few minor issues getting started, but pretty simple to install and works well.
Pretty simple to install - although you will need a crank puller tool. I’m not at all practical and it took me 15 minutes (not including the trip to B & Q to get the right size allen key to remove the bolt from the peddle allowing access to the crank). Pulling out the plugs was easy with pliers and it was clear which ones needed to be removed and inserted into the speedbox. The instructions stated that I would need to press the walk button to enable the speedbox, but nothing happened when I did. A quick internet search revealed that motors without the walk function need to press +, -, +, - on the controls, which worked straight away despite mine having the walk function. It’s great being able to switch the speedbox on and off so easily. When it is on the motor continues to provide assistance at all speeds, which is great, but it can be easily switched off to comply with regulations for cycling on the roads. I only installed it this morning, but after a short ride near home I’m really happy with it.

Activeline Plus - works great - No need to remove crank either!
Really good little tweak, It gave me an extra 10mph on a Bosch Activeline Plus motor and found that with this particular motor, using the crank puller tool is not required as there is a small flap consisting of two screws to take out. Therefore the tutorial is not really required if you have an Activeline Plus motor. The fit is not perfect though as the speedbox 2 unit itself is more chunky and squarer than the speedbox 1 unit in the videos, and you will have to play around a bit to get it fully inside the small compartment.. but you'll do this successfully after 10 minutes of messing. They said that speed could be increased by replacing the bikes sprocket, but I don't want to do that and find that the peak speed of 24Mph on a flat is sufficient.

EXCELLEBT kit, can be time consuming to fit.
If you watch the video on fitting the kit it looks like it takes minutes but it can take hours. If you don't have the special gadget to unlatch the connectors then try bending the end of a strong paper clip up to push in the latch from the underside of the connector blocks on a Bosch system. From then it takes minutes to connect the kit but stuffing all the wiring into the motor housing and frame in order to refit the cover can take a while. Once kit is installed, battery replaced and bike turned on if your display is set to miles as opposed to kilometres you will see 1.6 and 6.2 when toggling the Walk button and not 2.5 and 10, but that is OK. The crank puller is vital, I bought the Silverline one as an add on item.First time out on the bike in unrestricted mode is pure joy, cruising at 18 to 20 mph with the kids on road bikes is great and blasting down short hills at 28 mph is amazing. Well worth the expense and effort taken to fit the kit.

A must have for the Bosch motor!
Fitted to a Cube SLT, This is a great bit of kit as it releases the full potential of the motor, well worth the money and a very easy fit. A must buy 👍

Quite concerned, and sadly decided to return
I am disappointed that the advert does not state it is illegal to use an e-bike with a speed delimiter fitted. Only on receipt of the product is it indicated that it not for use on public roads. Well... I know the chance of it being discovered are slim, but in the event of an accident, the consequences could be severe. The bike would no longer be deemed a pedal cycle but a motorbike. The consequence therefore would be the same as riding a motorcycle with no tax, no mot, no insurance etc. to say nothing of a personal injury claim that could ensue, with no defence!! Another point is that the modification could put higher demands on the motor and invalidate the warranty if it failed. I sought legal advice and put the case that as the device could be activated, and deactivated, one could only be prosecuted if the device was in activated mode at the time of an accident, or a police stop. I was told that if the device was fitted and capable of activation the cycle would be considered to be a motor vehicle. I'm sure it is an excellent piece of kit and feel the legislation is nuts. Many cyclists on hi-spec standard bikes well exceed the the 15.5mph limit. It is with a heavy heart that I decided to return it as personally I did not want to take the risk. 🙁 Finally the way the device can simply plug into sockets that are easily accessible, and requires no technical knowledge is almost as though the Bosch e-bike was designed to have these devices installed ! The government wants to get people out of polluting cars, but on the other hand wants to restrict people fully benefiting from a excellent, clean and comparatively safe means of transport. Even with the speed delimiter I'm sure the bikes won't really go faster than the lycra clad fanatics, after all there is a greater weight issue to overcome. It just makes cycling easier, and for me that is important as I have a severe knee problem. I would however welcome any authoritative advice on the matter that would tempt me to re-purchase it.

Completely transformed our E bikes.
Let’s be blunt.... restricting e bikes to 15mph in the UK is just plain silly. You can’t pedal an Ebike much above 18mph manually, and road cyclists just shoot past doing 25mph. The rest of the EU is 40kph.The SpeedBox derestricts the E bike so that you can now in theory do any speed you like. In reality it just enables you to keep up with road bikes. The units are a little fiddly to fit, as the space they fit into is quite tight, but providing you have some patience the procedure is fine.We have fitted 3 of these units and it makes our e bikes into good fun workhorses. Are they illegal in the UK? No, because legislation is contradictory on e bikes and it will probably be years before it is updated. Our bikes have Bosch motors so I can’t comnent on how they fit/work on other motors.
