Perfect for small drill bits.
Perfect tool for drilling lots of very tiny holes. Used it with #78 drill bits for model railroad detail work. In a battery motor tool it is much better than hand drilling. Highly recommended.

A Very Nice Chuck
This is a very well made chuck. This is a four jaw chuck so you'll need to take extra care when loading a bit as it will not automatically center the bit like a three jaw chuck does. I'm using this with a mini drill press. I just insert it into my mini drill press chuck just like a regular 1/8" drill bit and voila, instant conversion without modifying anything. It's best to load the bit into this chuck before inserting it into your drilling device. If you do it that way you can easily get the bits centered correctly. This little guy really rocks once you understand how to load it correctly. This is a steal at under $5.00 and I feel my money was well spent.

OK, but not great!
Has trouble holding very small drill bits, and just spins in the drill. Not a great purchase for me. Have had much more luck with the set of small collets for a dremel. Lesson learned.

Handy for micro bits.
Closes on very small bits. A little hard to center the bits because of the straight sides.

Tool Time Rethink
Up till now when I wanted to make tiny holes I'd have to get out the trusty pin vise. This chuck with the 1/8 shank allows me to use those #80s in a rotary tool. Unfortunately, those tools do not spin as slow as a pin vise so I suspect I'll be going through a lot of #80 bits. That's OK. I'll just use this chuck in my pin vise!

Works well.
A little hard to center really small bits, but works great otherwise in my older Dremel. I have used this to drill out portholes in 1/700 scale naval models, and being able to do so with the Dremel is really so much faster . . .

Needed to fit any non-dremel ready bit less than. ...
Needed to fit any non-dremel ready bit less than .060 IN DIA size, fits bits down to .008 IN DIA.

Smaller than expected and limited in what drill bits it accepts
Perhaps this is all my bad but was looking for something to put really small bits into a drill press. This was recommended to me by an experienced woodworker and it seems to be very limited as far as what bits I can put into it. I've gotten one into it but the chuck doesn't seem to open or close with the twisting of end and had to force the one bit I needed it to work with into it. I don't expect that it'll last very long but hopefully it'll get my through until a product that looks more of what I'm looking for gets delivered.
