Works great!
Works great. I've only used the blonde so far but it dissolved easily and went on smootheUpdate:I've used both and the first batches I made with denatured alcohol. It was my first experience with that and I'll NEVER use that again! It smells horrible, like gas, and I was having issues with it too. I switched to everclear 190 proof I got from the local liquor store and what a huge difference. It dissolved the flakes in about 3 hours vs overnight, and the smell wasn't bad at all especially compared to the denatured alcohol. It goes on so smoothe and the finish is amazing. Very happy with these flakes, just avoid the denatured alcohol and go with grain alcohol and you can't go wrong

Good value, will buy again.
Very good flakes, they dissolve well, dry hard and smooth and I haven’t had any trouble with topcoat finishes. I would not hesitate to buy this again. They are dewaxed and make an excellent sealer. I also applied several coats to a polished hardwood with very good results.

Just mix with denatured alcohol to desired solution and apply.
Its shellac the easiest wood finish to use. I really like the Dark Purple on hickory.

There’s a leaning curve needed.
Only used the blonde flakes so far. Ground to a powder mixed with denatured alcohol. Applied multiple times to red oak. Sanded between applications with 280 grit. The finish came out ok, but patience is needed to get a nice finish. Apply light coats, make sure it dries completely (high humidity makes for slow drying times) before each additional application. View you tube how-to vids. It helps a lot.

Mixed Easily & Worked Perfectly
I purchased Shellac to apply on a cedar kitchen table I am building. It worked out great! It is Dewaxed which allows other finishes to stick to it. I use the "Purple Shellac" to tint the tabletop and applied Polyurethane on top as a clear coat to protect the Shellac and the wood underneath.I put the required amount of shellac flakes in an herb grinder and turned them into powder. Then I put the powder into a mason jar and added correct amount of Denatured Alcohol making sure to shake it every 15 or 20 minutes while I was working in my shop. The next day I had a perfect shellac for my needs. Just remember to check the formula to get the right mix.I would highly recommend these Shellac Flakes for any woodworker of for anyone just doing a restoration or needing to finish a project.

Great clean product
Clean beautiful shellac flakes. Dissolve within 24 hours in denatured alcohol shaken several times throughout the day without pre-grinding flakes.

Great, nice color
Excellent product. Tip: grind into a powder with a mortar and pestle or even a coffee grinder. It will dissolve in under an hour. The colors are rich. This is not a bleached blonde like you can also buy. It's a nice, natural color. The amber is also rich, and doesn't get too red. It stays amber-like.
