Almost 4 year old loves it
My daughter is almost 4 and, of course she loves the scissors. I got her a pair of safety scissors and this book. She loves it. She always wants to do one more before we stop for the day. I really like the way the exercises ramp up from straight lines to zig-zags to curves and other shapes. These exercises really seem to help her build her skills. The one thing that would make this book easier to use would be perforated pages so I could tear out the sheets for her to cut. Although I suppose that is just letting me practice my scissor skills! Finally the workbook has stickers for each exercise. They goofed though and since only every other page has an exercise the child will only end up completing page 1, 3, etc. At the back of the book they can put stickers as they complete a page. This has all the numbers consecutively which was a bit confusing at first for my daughter. But that just gives her a second exercise figuring out where that activities sticker goes. :)

Fun activities, but disappointed about the layout and quality
The idea of this book is really nice and the illustrations are cute.I just noticed a few things that made me feel like it could have been done better. The book states it has 64 pages... but each page is printed on just one side (very thin paper) and numbered with odd numbers. So it goes page 1, 3, 5, 7, etc... yet, there is a sticker incentive chart in the back that is numbered 1-64, not skipping any numbers. So you have to add extra stickers for page 2, 4, 6, etc even though no page 2 exists. This continues through the whole chart until you reach number 64.I found that very odd. Why put a sticker on page 2 if there is no page 2?? Confusing for kids.Secondly, a lot of the pages are to be cut from left-to-right yet the pages are not perforated, so they are difficult to tear out of the book. That's the first thing that my 4 year old noticed, the first page has arrows showing to cut left to right but since the page was in the book, she asked "how am I supposed to cut it?" So we tore it out for her.All in all, I think the concept is great but it could use some improvements.. especially for a nearly $4 book.

Great for young kids!
My son is 4 and like most kids, loves using scissors. His cutting skills are poor and instead of practicing on my mail and books, I decided to get him this. He loves it! We call it a school book so he knows it's to be treated well and he is to do his best work with it. I am impressed. It is a simple concept but it works well. There's a nice mix of zigzag lines and shapes to cut out. In just a week, my son improved enough to help cut out Christmas trees and snowflakes on his own.

Great Book for Cutting Practice!
My 4 year old is slowly getting the scissors down, and this book has helped a lot! It is easy enough for her to do and fun enough to keep her interest. It progresses as you go through the book, which is perfect for her. In the beginning you simply cut fairly straight lines and then they get more squiggly and by the end you are cutting out pictures to paste them. She had such a hard time with scissors before this book, it really has helped her hone her skill. If you only get one home workbook I'd recommend this one!

Cutting practice that isn't frustrating
My 5 year old was struggling with cutting, so wanted him to practice. This book provided a fun way for him to develop his skills. Chart included has numbered pages, but every other page is blank- so for each page completed, child got to put on two stickers. Found it helpful to cut entire book in half, then paperclip it together. That way I can quickly pull out one sheet for him to work on, while keeping it together so the pages don't get lost or out of order.

Very nice
I bought thus because my son is having trouble with his cutting. This is a very nice book devoted to just during no fleeting no other activities. My only wish is that they would perforate the pages so it easier for him to practice. Overall I like it.

Ok book
This book was a little advanced for my child. I was hoping for a first scissors/ cutting book, but this is a little too hard. I'm going to hold onto it though and maybe try it again in six months to see. If your child is more advanced, maybe this will work better for you, but I thought it was a little too hard for beginner scissor use.

Pretty good
My preschooler is starting to work on her cutting skills, this has some good worksheets. But being a book that ranges from preschool -1st grade some of the work is beyond her and will be until her hands and fingers grow some more.
