I strongly advise against buying this or presumably any other Brother printer. Thankfully there is Amazon's returns policy and it is on its way back to warehouse. I have only lost three hours of a Saturday afternoon, my temper and £5. The full story is this. I inserted the ink cartridges and the door would not close. I went to the Brother web page for support. You can "chat" to a robot but then you are diverted to a third party who wants £5 and your credit card details to help you. I was panicking and agreed to this. You do talk to an expert but they cannot help and while waiting I managed to get the cartridge door shut by careful adjustment of the plastic tangs. Next the printer would not connect to my wifi. I have a perfectly normal home installation. Brother have some "wizard" helpers that you can download. I tried three all claiming to be appropriate to the printer model that I have. After many attempts I could only get the message "connection failed". There are no instructions available either in the box or on the Brother support pages to connect to home wifi. When I get my refund I will try another brand of printer.

1) Works well on USB cable, but cannot get wireless printing.2) Fast printing.3) Cartridges in short supply. Amazon keeps sending me ads for incompatible cartridges.4) Too bulky. Not a patch on my old MFC-J270W.5) Tells you your ink is getting low, but does not specify which one. Very silly

Wireless printer - sounds easy - why do they make it so hard to setup? Caused loads of stress with my son who needs this for his A'level mocks starting in 2 days. Thanks for the bother, Brother.

It’s a little big but I expected that and set up was extremely easy. Our family downloaded the app to our phones and we were immediately able to print. I expected the colour print to be slightly better but it’s good enough for everyday use.My only concern is where to buy inks. I cannot find them on Amazon either original or compatible!**UPDATE** It has stopped printing after a few uses and cannot find out why!! the return date has passed and I simply have not had time to email and phone people to find out the problem! very frustrated and the downside to buying online

I've been using Brother Printers for many years & this one's very good. Sturdy, fairly quick & quiet. My only 2 gripes are, there's no USB port, which I've had on previous printers & always handy, but my biggest gripe is the cost of the replacement inks. Although the quality of the printing is great, I think that the price of replacement ink is just pure greed. I've bought 2 replacements so far, but won't buy anymore; instead I'll be buying a different printer. Such a shame as I am happy with the printer.

This is all you need if your after a basic well made, no frills wi-fi enabled printer - with easy to follow set up guidelines, non-expensive ink cartridges, which also turns out excellent quality prints.

Thus far...life changing. I have no idea how I was putting up with a printer from around 2014... I mean it was functioning but the difference between that one and this is shocking. It prints so fast! And with excellent quality! It was easy to setup, it's easy to use. I'm super happy with it.

It does as is supposed to, but it's very noisy making clunking and whining noises. not for those seeking a peaceful enviroment.
