It really WORKS
I've been meaning to write this review for a long time now but I have to first say that this thing freaking works!!!!!!!!! I bought the back in February of this year. At the time I was having back to back breakouts. As soon and one would start to heal up another would come in. I've only had this happen to me one other time like 2 years ago. I had narrowed down to my job causing the back to back breakouts since I was driving different dirty/dusty vehicles everyday. The first time I got rid of the back to back breakouts I was taking Quantum health SuperLysine+ but I had to take 3 pills 3 times a day which is 9 pills total and I also took 2 to 3 liquid droppers (their liquid version) 3 times a day which was 6 to 9 droppers. As you can see I was desperate and at the time I hadn't come across this product. Even though the Quantum Health pills did end up getting rid of my back to back breakouts. Its cost me a small fortune but regardless I was just happy to not have breakouts back to back. Now I will say I loved the Quantum SuperLysine because I was using it year round and it was for the most part, keeping me outbreak free. Fast forward to January! I'm training for a new job position and guess what happens? I'm breaking out back to back and guess what the Quantum Health SuperLysine is doing..... NOTHING!!!!!! and I am downing bottles and bottles of this stuff and my body had simply grown immune to it. So I'm searching the internet for something new and I stumble across the Virulite. I read the reviews on here and just said F it! I gotta try it and if it doesn't work then it's on to the next! I had it shipped to me overnight. My outbreak was in the beginning of healing so when I got the Virulite, I used it to see if it would heal it faster and I can say it did heal faster with the Virulite then if I used my normal creams alone, which I was still using the creams with the Virulite. The Virulite didn't heal my outbreak overnight, I just noticed a difference. Now once that out break was healed I was still taking the SuperLysine and using the Virulite every 2 hours for about 2 days I think. 2 or 3 days later, I'm up late at night and I feel a cold sore coming in but its small and hasn't started growing yet and you can't tell it's there so I used the Virulite every 2hrs the first day and I can tell it stop it from growing but it did grow a little. My lip isn't tight or itching. It's not even red. The second day I'm still using it every 2 hours and I start to notice its going down but slowly. By the 3rd day I couldn't tell if it was still there or not so I still use it every 2 hrs and I still can't tell if its gone. Now after that I still used it every 2 hours because I'm still feeling like I'm going to breakout again and I want to be ahead of the game. After maybe 3 or 4 more days of using the Virulite to death I cut back on how often I was using it everyday since the outbreaks had stop coming in back to back but I will say I had a tingle on the upper right side of my lip and every time I felt it I would use the Virulite. Even if I felt a tingle 10 minutes after the last tingle and still would use the Virulite again. I think I might have had one more breakout during the middle of my training . It was in the morning when I had sat down for class. I felt my lip getting big. Training hadn't started yet, I had my Virulite in a eyeglass case so I went to the bathroom and used it. I also used it as much as I could get away with throughout the day with no one seeing what I was doing. This time I noticed the cold sore was getting bigger but at a slower rate then it stopped growing and then it's started to go down slowly. It never busted or broke the skin. No scabs. NOTHING! I was so damn happy. After that I made sure I used my Virulite 2 time a day, on my lips and my nose, and anytime I felt tingling I would use it. Fast forward to now, I don't really use it anymore to be honest. I haven't had a breakout in 2 or 3 months and I think I might have had a tingle 2 months ago. Regardless I take it with me wherever I go. I also have extra batteries for it. I remember when I first bought it I wasn't sure if it was working or not because I saw someone's picture of there Virulite lighting up when they took a picture of it and mines didn't do that. But I read on the Virulte website that it your eye can see the light and after the great results I've gotten with it I just want to let the rest of you guys know that no mines doesn't light up when I took a picture of it or at any angle I was looking at it but it does work!!!!!!! Please try it for yourself. I know how irritating and frustrating it is to deal with outbreaks. I've been dealing with them since I was in the 2nd grade. I have no idea how I contracted it. Anyway I hope my review was somewhat helpful to someone and I wish you all the best of luck! If you have any questions I will do my best to help you out.

IT WILL STOP WORKING VERY SOON!
Efficacy aside (which who really knows if this works), this is the third one I have bought (I'll do anything to fight the nightmare of a cold sore, and this is FDA approved). It stops working after 2-3 cold sore bouts in one year (has now happened three times). I bought it yet again (I don't learn) thinking it was bad luck, then here I am again today with a cold sore coming on, and the device not working. Changed the battery twice, as I did the prior ones. Not the issue. It is always the same problem: it "beeps" and the green light goes on, but then stops working (no flashing green light anymore and no beep to signal it is completed). This is the exact same problem/failure that has happened three times. Oh, and don't forget to make note that they DO NOT ALLOW YOU TO RETURN IT (even if right away after you buy it or unopened).

Saves you a lot of heartache!
Strap in, kiddies.Short story - I've suffered from cold sores since I was a kid, so for nearly 30 years. I bought this product in an act of desperation during the worst outbreak of my life last year. I've always approached cold sores through "prevention" rather than "treatment" because once they're there...they're just kind of they're for the next painful two weeks. So, I started keeping this light in my purse. Whenever I got even a hint of a tingle - could have just been an itchy lip - I pulled this thing out and did the 3 minute treatment. It beeps to start and when finished, so you know when you're good to go. I swear this thing helped keep what would have turned into sores at bay. Nipped them right in the bud when used at the first tingle and then every few hours that day out of paranoia. It runs on a 9V battery that seems to last 6-8 months with irregular usage. Keep batteries at home because goodness knows it's going to run out as soon as you don't need it to. The normally bright green light turns very dull and the beeps aren't as loud, so you'll be clued in when you need to change them.Between this light and a preventative dose of a prescription oral Valtrex/Valcyclovir (go to your GP and get a prescription if you haven't already!), I was cold sore free for almost exactly a year. One managed to sneak up on me during the night recently and I was able to really put this thing to the test. The results are as follows.First sign of the tingle - is it a pimple? is it a sore? Better safe than sorry. Whipped this light out, did the treatment. Looked in the mirror, low and behold, there are a few tiny, tiny blisters in the bottom left corner of my mouth. Cold sore confirmed. For the next three to four days, I used the light every two hours that I was awake. As you can see in the photos, the sore never did blister up beyond its initial appearance. This light stopped it before it could really get started. If you've dealt with cold sores, you know that those pictures are much preferable to a full blown sore at day two or three. What you see in the pictures was flat, occasionally leaky, and seemed to skip right to the 'healing' stage of a sore by the end of day two. Keep at it, don't just use it twice a day. Bombard that sucker.Bonus - this light seems to provide some noticeable relief in any pain or itchiness.I should also disclose that I didn't solely depend on the Virulite, though it was the only 'treatment' I used during this sore (aside from my valcyclovir twice a day and some lysine vitamin tablets). No Abreva. No chapsticks or oinments. That's the 'review' part. Five stars. Worth. Every. Single. Penny. Below, I'll tell you what seems to work for me when dealing with these bad boys. After nearly 3 decades of sores, I'm something of an expert in keeping them in-hand. My go-to treatment plan is as follows.Always have the following:1) the Virulite 2) an oral prescription and some lysine tablets for funsies 3) suck it up and order *specifically* the Compeed Cold Sore Patches (in the US, you won't find them in stores. Order several packs at a time.) 4) some 91%/high percentage Rubbing AlcoholFirst step:) Virulite at first sign. First sneaking suspicion. Use this once every few hours. It's small enough to keep on you or in your car or desk.Second step:) Douse a cotton swab in the strong rubbing alcohol (also, if you're paranoid like me, keep some alcohol wipes at your desk or somewhere you can always have them on hand). Don't cause yourself to bleed - it'll swell and look worse than it already is - but rub until that initial blister has popped. Get another cotton swab with alcohol. Set it on top of the blister for as long as you can stand it. Forget 'keeping it moisturized so that this sweet, gentle monster who means you no harm can heal on its own schedule.' Nuh unh. Nope. Burn that sucker.Third Step:) Hit again with the Virulite just for fun.Fourth Step:) Leave it alone. The first day, I like to leave the sore uncovered so that I can really get at it with the Virulite. Occasionally, I'll place another alcohol swap over it. But! Don't keep rubbing, the skin will be tender by this point and you could die.Fifth Step:) EVERY SINGLE NIGHT you should be covering that sore with a cold sore patch. It'll help it heal and keep your pillows and towels sanitary. I rely on the patches mostly at night or if I HAVE to go out for work or errands. Slap one on because this thing will help keep you and the people around you safe(r).Even with the patches on, KEEP YOUR FACE AWAY FROM OTHER PEOPLE. I don't care if you want to kiss your wifey goodnight. NO. Don't even use the same towel as loved ones. Not even during the healing stage. A patch is not an excuse to engage in any behavior that could even maybe spread the virus. And don't forget - you can give it to yourself. Again. In way worse places than your face. You should have the cleanest hands you've had in your life when you have an active sore. Changing baby diapers? For goodness sake, put on some rubber gloves before you touch that bundle o'joy or pass her off to the partner.Repeat the above steps right through the healing process, nixing the alcohol at your judgement. My golden rule for my loved ones is that I wait a week until the sore is GONE - as in disappeared, not healing, not almost gone - before engaging in any contact, whether that sharing food or kisses or *ahem* kisses or whatever else.Be clean. Be ruthless.
