Installing with a Linksys mx4200 router
In the past month I have purchased 2 Synology units the 1st a DS218play could not be initialised so was returned for a refund. I the ordered a DS220+ and had the same problem as the DS218play. I followed the instructions but to no avail, I used IOS ipad app, imac catalina, latest mac mini M1 and windows 10. They all saw the new NAS (plus the DS410 and DS214+ii) but failed to connect when the browser was selected. My system is Fibre to the premises 500mb/s up and down (ISP Upp.com), one router/access point and 2 more access points as a backbone hard wired, one at the end one in the middle and one at the fibre input. The 3 units are Linksys MX4200 installed 6 months ago.This morning I went to my wife's shop and tried to install DSM using her Vodafone broadband using my windows 10 laptop, no problems at all, it sailed through the setup just as all the youtube videos show.Obviously the firmware on the NAS 6.2.4-25556 has a problem with the linksys units or Linksys has a problem with Synology, but they don't like each other.I'm OK as I allocated a fixed IP to my DS220+, plugged it in to my linksys network and it works just fine no problems so farAnybody with Linksys routers may have a problem doing the installing on fresh drives with a Synology NAS.

Fantastic solution if you want less dependency on Apple cloud
i had to watch a lot of videos to understand how to set it up properly. There is plenty of stuff out there that can teach you. The product is amazing, very well designed. The interface is good, functionality is extensive. Slightly louder than i thought. Perfect integration with Apple products (time machine, phone backup, etc). didn't yet try the support.

Appears to do its job perfectly
Bought this to replace my previous Synology server which had only a single drive. Setting up new drive was easy and logical. Copying all the media files to the new drive took several hours but went without incident. Software is significantly better Thant the old version.

Depending on the supplier the HDD may or may not be installed.
I think it's to do with the way Amazon lists items. With my purchase the HDD were not installed and unfortunately dead on arrival. A quick play with some others disks I had around showed the DS220+ easy enough to set up and working well when attached to a BT home hub.The supplier insisted that the whole kit had to be returned for credit rather than just the HDD.

Very useful tool
Very useful system but it takes a little bit if tech know how to set it up. Once you have done that it's a great bit of kit.
