No more wadded newspaper to light coals. Just break off 2 or 3 of these cubes, they start up easily with a butane lighter or match. Set the chimney on top and off it goes. The cubes withstand the wind better than lit paper and they don't add any off-flavors to the coals.

These fire starters light-up almost immediately, and burn long enough to start my poplar, or other light-weight firewood logs. I have not tried to use them to start large, heavier-weight (oak) firewood logs directly. It might work if the oak firewood was very dry, and if I used two or three fire starters.

This is a no nonsense, fire starter. I wish the perforations were a shade deeper so that the layers wouldn't separate, but it could have just been a batch error.

They work better than the ones that I purchased locally, and seemed to get the wood to light better. I bought them at one price (which was a good price - they must have been on special). My initial order was for 6 boxes. It took a long time for them to get to me. While I was waiting for my order to get here, I looked at Amazon to see what the delay way. They had run out of stock. I was so pleased with them that I was going to buy more for next year, and I found the price had more than doubled, so I was happy I bought the 6 boxes.

Not terrible but kinda just a pain in the ass and didn't light well. Spend a couple more bucks on a huger quality product and you won't regret it.
