REISS INNOVATIONS drops the ball in their listing
This crimper nets a 5-Star rating for functionality, however the listing by Reiss Innovations is misleading and in error."Not enough additional add-on die's. the one die set Amazon offers won't work. I didn't try the additional die but an inserted piece of paper that came with the crimper says it won't work (it's incompatible with this particular crimper.)"This item is listed and sold by Reiss Innovations. They are responsible for their listings, but they don't care if you buy additional dies that won't work as long as they sell them. I left true and factual feedback on REISS INNOVATIONS and they have repeatedly hounded me to remove my feedback. Why? aren't they responsible for their listings? Right in their listing they offer additional die sets to work with this crimper but an included note within the packaging for this crimper there is a disclaimer stating that the additional dies will not work with this particular crimper. So in my opinion they need to state this flaw and prevent people from purchasing the additional die sets. So my feedback points this out to them which is legitimate. I left them a 3 star rating for their oversight. But in retrospect I wish I would have left them a rating of 1 star. They don't want to take responsibility for their misleading listing.By The Way this crimper works fine, my only gripe is the listing doesn't point out all the facts for this crimper.I'd also like to point out that Ken Reiss from Reiss Innovations acted like a bereaved child that someone took away his candy and cried and begged me to remove the feedback and resorted to calling me rude for denying his request for informing future buyers. My advice to anyone considering purchases from REISS INNOVATIONS to reconsider and buy from a reputable seller that is honest and forthright. Begging someone to remove factual feedback is simply wrong. They in error think my feedback pertains to the product but it clearly points out shortcomings on the sellers behalf.AVOID THIS SELLER TO AVOID FUTURE HEADACHES

Model HT-301 A pretty good crimper
I received this crimper today and had to try a red and a blue crimp. It worked fine on a 20 ga with a red and a blue. I was surprised the blue one held on a 20 ga although I don't think I would trust it to hold. The crimp pressure feels like it's exceptionally heavy. It worked best pushing the bottom handle against the bench. The crimp made is actually a double crimp design that I've not seen before. The high dollar ones I've use had a single crimp with a dimple that is seen on the insulator to verify a good crimp. The AMP and STA-Kon crimpers I've used in the past were much easier, had longer handles and they cost several hundred dollars that this retired guy can't justify. One observation is this crimper has a non-changeably die. Just did a little digging around. Parts-express carries the interchangeable dies and handles. They carry the crimp tool number 360-680 with changeable dies at a similar price point. If Amazon caries this handle for these dies shown here, I've not seen it.

Didn't provide a secure connection for me on my terminals
I bought this crimper to replace an older one that just smashed the terminals down with hand strength. I figured with this design I'd get a more secure connection with less work. Well, my first crimps with this were a disaster, I used the correct color coding for the connector but when I did the pull test the crimp came right off! It was a yellow crimp, I believe made by cal term and purchased at the local home center. Anyways, I decided to try another one and use the wrong slot, I used the blue which is one size smaller and that too was a disaster because it was of course too big for the slot and unless you crimp something totally the tool won't release. I had a heck of a time forcing it hard enough to release the crimp from the jaws but I did manage to get it out. After this I just went back to my old crimper which always gave fine crimps that never pulled off but is a bit hard to squeeze. I wondered why this didn't work right and after a bit of inspection I noticed not all crimps have identical thickness yet with this style crimper it always crimps the same amount. I guess if you bought matched crimps for the tool it may work fine but if you buy different brand crimps forget it, the non ratcheting crush style crimper is much better. Live and learn I guess.

Nice
Just got them and wasted a couple of terminals to try them out. They really do a nice crimp job but the first one I crimped was very hard. The ratcheting handle does not release until the terminal is fully crimped. You need to apply a lot of force to get it to depress all the way. There is an adjustment gear screw on the face side that is marked + - I moved it to the very last notch on the minus side and now I don't need to be Magilla Gorilla to squeeze the handle all the way down. Comes with no instructions so I had to figure the adjustment out on my own. All and all a nice sturdy crimping tool. I recommend this product. I only gave it 4 stars due to the lack of instructions.

These will make your life easier!
I do a lot of car & boat stereo installs (for myself, and for friends), and years ago I started using crimp-connectors (rather than twisting the wires and taping them, or soldering). I've had various crimping tools (such as Radio Shack and Sears). And just as the crimping tools were better/quicker/easier than my previous methods ... this ratcheting crimper is that much better than the other crimpers I've used...This is a really nice sturdy/serious tool. The ratchet action helps in 2 ways ... first, you can use 1 or 2 clicks of the ratchet to apply enough pressure to hold the plastic crimp-connector in the tool (which frees up 1 hand for other things), and then once you start applying more pressure to crimp, you know that when you crimp it enough that you hear the 'click' and the ratchet releases, you are *guaranteed* that the connector is fully crimped. No second-guessing, and having the wire pull out where you didn't crimp hard enough, etc!Buy this tool - you won't regret it!
