it's fun!!
Arrived quickly. Was fun to assemble and it works. some steps may require one or two tries as the instructions are brief and in both Chinese and English. Not a big problem...sort of part of the fun in the assembly.

but it kind of seems like a big waste of time
My brother has a similar kit that he put together, but his works. I'm an engineer and I can follow directions but the tolerance in the crankshaft seems to be sloppy and I can't even hand-crank the model without getting the legs jammed. My Strandbeest just sits on a bunch of folded-up legs and does nothing. Maybe I'll take it apart and try again, but it kind of seems like a big waste of time. I was disappointed.

They are entranced I think because it has a kind of life like quality to its movements
This thing is a hoot to watch.. It is especially interesting to show children how it works. They are entranced I think because it has a kind of life like quality to its movements. There are a lot of parts that must be put together in the correct sequence or it won't work right but the effort is well worth it in my opinion. That some guy from the Netherlands had the wherewithall to put this together is amazing. It actually walks. Worth the money even if you don't hve children.

Not for kids - a lot of work
My mom gave this to my son for his 7th birthday. Way to challenging for him to do and he quickly lost interest in even watching me put it together. Th parts a difficult and time consuming to put together. I worked once together but it a one trick pony. My son watched it for a little while then lost interest. Not worth the time and effort.
