Mesa Safe Hotel Safe, 1.2 cu. ft, Black, 35 lb. (MHRC916E-BLK)

The box is solid, the door well-set. It is large enough to hold my laptop easily. Locking and opening, using user-defined numeric codes or any card with a magnetic strip, is very straightforward.

After going to a hotel and using their safe to store our valuables, I wanted something simple for home use. I purchased the Mesa Safe MHRC916 and it works great. I then ordered two more and one came in damaged. I contacted the shipper (Authority Safes) and Janel had a replacement safe delivered within 3 days. Product works great and has many additional features I didn't know about when using the hotel's safe which makes it even more useful and user friendly.

Safe is very roomy but not bulky ( fits in closet ) and it was easy to set up home mode instead of hotel mode and enter my code; locked lots of papers and other stuff in there and there is still more room if I need it; I tried to set up a few more sophisticated features but it was pretty complicated for me because absence of patience and having my cat all over the safe did not help either... He really likes it, sleeps next to it now... Not sure why... So I gave up and just kept it simple; anyway it was just for that - to lock some stuff so random prying visitors cannot have easy access to my items. The only thing I do not like is beeping sound when I enter digits, there is no option to shut it of...

This is my second Mesa safe.I ordered the other in the same size in a light color.I wanted this to blend in more to a darker area.Works as expected, and the price is cheaper than small gun or pistol safes.Nice thick steel.

Damaged in the box. There were no visible signs of damage with delivery but as you can see, the digital controls are broken off the front of the safe. The piece is held on by 6 small plastic legs that are screwed to the wall. “Very poor design” system. Also, the wire harness is disconnected from the inside of the door panel which would take removal of the metal door panel. Very disappointing.

Received safe on time and in good condition. The mechanical build quality looks good and was satisfied it would suffice for a light duty safe. When it first came and I was setting it up, the keyboard was intermittent- would accept key presses one day and then not the next. I should have tested it more at the time but did not. My fault. I put it aside for a few months as there were more important things to attend to. Now, six months later, I want to install it. Keyboard dead. Will not accept any key press. Replaced batteries, same issue. This is a shame as it is a nice looking safe that has morphed into a door stop. Cannot return as past return date.Nice safe- test very thoroughly though. One star is for the build quality. Lost four stars for total keyboard failure. A shame.UPDATE- change to 3 stars. After my return was denied due to time limit, had to either see if I could fix it or toss it. Turns out that when opening the safe (with key), I took off the metal cover inside covering the 'works'. There is a small ribbon cable connecting the keypad to the main circuit board which had come loose in shipping- I reseated the cable on the connector and now the safe works again. Note to manufacturer- secure the ribbon cable. Now at least I don't have to throw it out.

We purchased this to keep our car keys locked away from the teenagers! We have it in our bedroom armoire and fits perfectly. We ended up adding our checkbooks and most valuable jewelry. It also holds iPads easily. Gives us piece of mind for what we needed it for. Only down side for us is that it chimes with each button push and once it unlocks and locks. In the morning while I am sleeping it's a bit annoying. However I will trade that for the piece of mind.

This is my second Mesa safe. The first one was fine, but the door on the second one sticks. It's not worth sending it back, but if I knew that it was going to be out of alignment, I would have ordered another product.
