My wife and I are teaching a small class of Hispanics who need to know English for better jobs, etc. We were looking for a book that was not merely a grammar or vocabulary text, but one containing common, useful phrases used by most people in most situations. This wonderful book begins with the "basics" but also progresses to more advanced phrases and extensive vocabulary. Most helpful is that it is fun to read and use and contains phonetic pronunciations of all the English words. I highly recommend this book!

This is one of my favorite books to use with students that speak only Spanish. The instructions and explanations are written in their native language, plus the pronunciation of English words are written in Spanish phonetics, allowing a new learner to progress at their own pace. The student can progress on their own although I use it for one-on-one instruction also. Then the student is responsible to practice on their. The book begins with words for immediate use in conversations and survival, and progresses from their. I find it extremely practical.

I teach an ESL class to Latino students. I was looking for a book that had a common-sense approach to teaching English. They really enjoy the helpful information in each chapter of the book. It seems to be a much better approach to introducing them to English, than a traditional text book.

This book is full of very practical information for people trying to learn English.

This was purchased as a gift and I was very impressed with how it was written. This book is great for someone who speaks Spanish and is trying to learn English. It is easy to follow and after looking all over, this was by far, the best book for Spanish speakers to learn English.

I am teaching English to a friend and the book is working very well. I would have rated it higher except the description said it came with a CD and the cover says CD included. When it arrived without a CD, I though there might be instructions in the book to download but I have not been able to find anything on how to do it. If anyone can tell me, I'd really appreciate it.

This book will teach Hispanos the basics to help them get started with learning English but it cannot be relied on as a sole course and the last word on ESL/EFL. There is a 2nd book of the same title which goes into more further detail, but eventually other materials will definitely need to be used to achieve mastery of English.
